Imtiaz Ali, the writer, director, as well as producer of Highway had invested an amount of Rs. 18.25 crore in making the Film. It was a not a big budget movie as Imtiaz was producing it himself and wanted to keep it simple. However, this Sajid Nadiadwala presentation has been able to earn Rs. 27 crore already, which makes it a hit as far as recovering profits is concerned. Otherwise also, the road film has been appreciated all over the world. This can be made out from the collection it has made within the country as well as outside it. As per a source, “Highway had made 15.5 crores of revenue even before its release and the international theatrical collection is more than 8 crores till date and still counting, making the total revenue pie more than 50 crores.” These statistics clearly state that Highway has recovered much more than invested in it.
Happy with the fact that the movie has been a success, presenter Sajid Nadiadwala exclaimed, “It was both an honour and a challenge when Imtiaz entrusted me with the big responsibility of Highway's release. We worked with our distribution partners at UTV to give the film an appropriate release across 800 screens with carefully selected cities and cinemas across the country!” Actors Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda have done exceptionally well in the film along with the amazing cinematography by Anil Mehta and mesmerizing music by AR Rahman. Adding to this Sajid said, “Highway was always a profitable film, made and marketed at a tight cost but what was really heart-warming was the way the audiences warmed up to the movie.” However, Imtiaz Ali seems to be more than happy with the outcome confirming which he said, “I am happy that the film has reached the audience. We are moved by the response and very thankful. This experience has taught us many new things.”
