Pokemon Go: how to download and play in Philippines, Southeast Asia

Nintendo's Pokémon Go is undeniably one of the most addicting games on the planet today. Everyone elsewhere is talking and playing about it. And literally this highly-entertaining mobile game is taking over the world.



Pokémon Go is currently available for download in few Countries such as the United States, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom and Germany. The availability of the game on the other countries is still yet to be announced as Niantic, Inc, the game's developer disclosed that the overwhelming success of the game created some problems of its servers due to a tremendous number of users engaging. Fortunately, they had already fixed it and maybe in the next few days the game will be ready for download in more countries, including the Philippines.

In a recent announcement, Niantic said that they "do not have any announced plans for countries beyond New Zealand, Australia, US and Germany at the moment."

However, some sources revealed that the game will be rolled out in Southeast Asia countries, including the Philippines, in the next few days. So for the avid Filipino Pokemon fanatics out there, just be patient.

But wait, those users in unsupported countries who can't wait to have Pokemon Go in their mobile screens can actually download its APK file on Android through this LINK. Please be guided that this is not the official release of the app and it might contain viruses, malware and other security risks.

For iOS players, they could have the game by creating a new Apple ID which has their location set either in Australia, NZ, US, UK and Germany. After creating a new account, log in and go to Settings > General > Language > Region. And you're good to go!

Pokémon Go is a free-to-play mobile game which comes with an augmented reality experience, wherein players are given a map of their immediate surroundings to roam around in the real world in order search and catch Pokemons to train and have them in the battles. The map includes features namely, PokéStops and Gyms. The PokéStops are the locations in which you can collect Pokéballs while the Gyms are the places where Pokémon masters battle each other using their captured Pokemons. The game is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Meanwhile, Niantic and Nintendo advised the players across the globe to be alert and aware to their surroundings while catching Pokémons to prevent accidents or any unfortunate event.
