Spectrecom attends ‘Time for Change’, Tusk Trust event

For the past few years, we have been proud supporters of Tusk Trust, providing Pro Bono Film production work. We have sent crew all over Africa to film some of the amazing work that comes out of Tusks conservation initiatives.

Today, Andrew Greener and Christiaan Harden were invited to attend Tusk’s Time For Change event held at The View from The Shard. This event was also held in Tokyo and Johannesburg where a live broadcast of the London Keynote Speaker, HRH The Duke of Cambridge KG KT, was aired. In his speech Prince William said, “I am not prepared to be part of a generation that lets these iconic species disappear from the wild. I am not prepared to explain to our children why we lost this battle when we had the tools to win it.

“And I know that none of you in Tokyo, Johannesburg or here in London want this either. I fear we will not know what we have lost ’till it has gone.”

In the 2015 General Election, the Conservatives promised to ban all Ivory sales, however this has not been fulfilled. Yesterday the Conservative Government announced it is to curb the illegal trade in Ivory, only allowing the sale of ivory if it could be verified that it is over 70 years old. Today’s Time for Change event aimed to increase the drive for progress and highlight the continuing crisis and devastating impact of illegal wildlife trade.

Currently we have two crew members, Kieran Hodges and Chris Karageorgiou, filming in South Africa for Tusk’s upcoming Conservation Awards Ceremony. Over the next few weeks, they’ll also be visiting Rwanda, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zambia. We currently can’t say who or what they are filming, as it will spoil the surprise when the films are released, but we can show you last years award nomination films.
