Wear You In A While Crocodile

When putting an outfit together often the cut and colour palette outweigh any other aesthetic considerations.  Whilst these two elements are important when styling there is another factor that also comes into play – texture. A simple way to lift a basic outfit to a more fashion forward ensemble is to mix up the textures. Think about pairing a tough Leather skirt with the softest cashmere jumper or pure silk dress with a fur stole.  The different textures contrast beautifully with each other and turn an otherwise boring outfit into something interesting.

The easiest way to incorporate texture into your outfit is through accessories and in particularly mixing up different leathers that are available.  Whilst cow leather is by far the most popular and is widely available leather Crocodile leather is definitely the most luxurious and sought after. The buttery soft texture and gentle sheen make crocodile leather accessories a great option for those wanting to exercise their style credentials by experimenting with different textures.

Probably the most well-known crocodile accessory is the crocodile Birkin bag by Hermes. The classic design is elevated by the luxurious crocodile leather.  The beauty of this piece is that whilst both the design and crocodile print are bold they are also understated.  Crocodile leather is in a way subtle. People will at once be aware of the overall sophistication of the outfit but will be unable to pin point exactly why.  A crocodile purse as either an accompaniment to a crocodile bag or to contrast against another fabric is a nice way to make an everyday necessity become a coveted luxurious piece.

Another way to incorporate crocodile leather into you look is to opt for a simple belt. This is an easy way to mix up your textures whilst emphasising your figure.  For example, you could cinch in your waist with a skinny crocodile belt whilst wearing a contrasting texture such as wool for a quick style update.  Or when wearing an all-black outfit and you want to be a sophisticated minimalist rather than flat out boring simply wear black crocodile boots and belt to keep it modern and pulled together.

Even though crocodile leather is undeniably stylish when making a purchase you have to consider the practicalities such as upkeep and care.  Luckily upkeep is very straight forward. Just ensure that you store it in its dust bag in a cool dry place and be vigilant about any possible scratches and marks as these cannot be repaired.

Arguably the more pressing practicality is that of price. There is no denying that crocodile skin is very expensive! The process of cultivating the skin is long as well as being heavily regulated which is what makes it so costly.  Such is its exclusivity that crocodile bags frequently sell at auctions for well above their purchase price – making it arguably a true investment piece! Furthermore, each piece will have unique markings, which makes owning such an item a truly personal experience. Whichever crocodile accessory you go for you can be safe in the knowledge that it will add a touch of elegance and modernity to each and every situation!
