The Most Anticipated Games of 2013

Here we are, 2012 is over, the awards have been handed out, and now it’s time to look forward to an exciting new year of gaming. The new year will see the release of a ton of new games that we’re really excited to see and, with that in mind, let’s have a look at the list of our Most Anticipated Games of 2013.

Grand Theft Auto 5

Developer / Publisher: Rockstar / Rockstar
Platforms: Xbox 360 / PS3 / PC
Release Date: Spring 2013
GTA 5 may be the most obvious entry in this list, as it would be impossible for us not to be excited for a new Grand Theft Auto game. GTA 5 promises to be the biggest GTA game yet, with the largest vehicle roster, and the campaign will even feature three main characters instead of one.

Destiny

Developer / Publisher: Bungie / Activision
Platforms: Xbox 360 / PS3
Release Date: Fall 2013
We still don’t know exactly what kind of a game Destiny will be, so how can it be on our most anticipated list? Bungie; that’s why. Simply seeing what they’ve been able to do in the past, with the wildly successful Halo series, we can’t help but be excited to see Bungie’s first post-Halo offering. Just have a look at some of the leaked images and details and we think you’ll be on board as well.

The Last of Us

Developer / Publisher: Naughty Dog / Sony Computer Entertainment
Platforms: PS3
Release Date: May 7th, 2013
After seeing the adapative AI at work, during last year’s E3 demo of The Last of us, we couldn’t help but be impressed. The post-apocalyptic world, the characters, and the mysterious mutant enemies we’ve only seen glimpses of are a few of the other elements that have us excited for Naughty Dog’s latest game. The way they’ve been discussing the combat and enemy systems, we’re sure that The Last of Us isn’t going to be just another action game.

Bioshock Infinite

Developer / Publisher: Irrational Games / 2K Games
Platforms: Xbox 360 / PS3 / PC
Release Date: February 26th, 2013
After being delayed a couple of times, Irrational Games’ long awaited follow-up finally has a solid release date. Bioshock Infinite has traveled a rocky road to store shelves but we’re sure it will all turn out for the best in the end. Infinite will move the action from the bottom of the ocean to a city among the clouds and will feature an art style that screams Bioshock, yet is completely unique.

Dark Souls 2

Developer / Publisher: Irrational Games / 2K Games
Platforms: Xbox 360 / PS3 / PC
Release Date: TBA 2013
Demon’s Souls was a cult hit on the PS3, so when Dark Souls went multi-platform I think From Software were as surprised as we were at it’s success. When we found out that one of the most difficult, yet most rewarding, games of 2012 would be getting a direct sequel some of us may, or may not, have been screaming at the TV (during the Spike VGA’s). We are prepared to die, one more time.

EA Sports UFC

Developer / Publisher: EA Sports / EA
Platforms: Xbox 360 / PS3
Release Date: TBA 2013
I’m not sure if you can call it a coincidence or not, but every member of The Controller Online Staff happens to be a big fan of Mixed Martial Arts. There have been UFC games before, and EA has done an MMA game before, but pairing the premiere sports game developer with the premiere MMA promotion is sure to produce something special. After the surprise announcement at E3, it’s up to EA to make our dreams come true.
This is our list, and we think 2013 is going to be a good year for video games, which titles are you looking forward to the most?
