Two nights in Spain definitely wasn't enough. So far it's the place that's surprised me the most in that I had an absolute ball and loved the city of Barcelona. We had one full day in Barcelona so of course we packed it with everything Gaudí.
First up is the unbelievable La Sagrada Familia. If you don't know it by name, you definitely know it by sight. This incredible church began it's construction in 1882 under the supervision of the visionary architect Antoni Gaudí, and a mere 134 years later, it's still not finished. Currently it's predicted to be finished by 2032, but hey, you can't rush perfection.
From there, we jumped in a cab and headed on over to Park Güell for even more Gaudí. If you visit this one definitely pre-book tickets, we ended up waiting about about 1.5 hours to get in. Luckily it was lunch time so we feasted on Spanish Tapas whilst we waited.
That night we had a Contiki family dinner with even more Spanish tapas and lots of Sangria. I had my own food brought out... after I'd eaten a lot of everyone elses so I was well and truly stuffed. I think the Spanish may have converted me to pumpkin soup too. We sat up on the balcony watching and cheering our entertainment for the night, beautifully intense flamenco dancers.
We also visted El Bosc de les Fades, a fairy bar (yes you read right) and hung out at the Majestic Hotel rooftop bar which we definitely weren't dressed fancy enough for (just act like you're meant to be there). Barcelona has inspired me to go back to Spain and explore the whole country.Link Love
