Iphone 5 Expected Design

The Samsung Galaxy S III has received warranted appreciation and rave reviews from mobile critics, however, its expected that at the end of 2012, Apple will again have the last laugh in handheld technology with the launch of Apple Iphone 5.

Design:

Apple expect to take a new slant in the design process - making the latest installment smaller, slimmer, whilst maintaining the non-removal battery. Gururs are ready for a 7.6mm thick frame with durable metal casing. The iPhone screen is finally getting a bit bigger. It has been 3.5in ever since the first iPhone was released in 2007, but the big A has finally relented and got on board with the big-screen trend - a little, at least. The screen will still fall short of Android rivals. While the screen gets bigger, the resolution is said to still remain the same.

Power:

Curiously, the CPU of the next iPhone hasn’t been a massive source of contention to date - perhaps it's because the iPhone series is essentially "on rails", with a sequential upgrade virtually mandatory. The latest rumours suggest the phone will have a quad-core Samsung Exynos 4-series processor, similar to the one found in the Samsung Galaxy S3. The iPhone 4S has a dual-core chip.

RAM is also expected to double, from 512MB in the iPhone 4S to 1GB in the iPhone 5. All-in, this is a massive upgrade that's worthy of a generation shift. Once developers get hold of this power, you can expect much more elaborate textures in games, and much higher polygon counts.

Camera

Like the processor, not a great deal of fuss has been made over the core specs of the upcoming iPhone's camera yet. There will be two of 'em, one for the front and one for the back, but the megapixel count of the main one isn't expected to change.

The iPhone 4S's camera offers eight megapixels, and the iPhone 5 will probably arrive with the same count. However, the optics will likely be significantly improved for greater sharpness and detail resolution, as well as improved low light performance. The spec that's most easy to point to on this front is aperture - the iPhone 4S has an f-stop rating of f/2.4, and this is expected to be upped to f/2.2 in the next model.

A little more interesting, a number of odd patents have been registered by Apple of late too, including ones relating to an innovative 3D Camera and a camera that uses interchangeable lenses.

Conclusion

More will need to follow to encourage Android switchers and the current fanbase to continue to purchase Apple products. The internal and software features are still relatively unknown - which will hold the key in beating Samsung and HTC Android models:
  • . Face Recognition Security
  • · 4G/LTE support – According the AT&T documents leaked by LulzSec, the Apple iPhone 5 will offer 4G and will be LTE (Long Term Evolution) network compatible. LTE is a project of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), and is the latest standard in the mobile network technology.
  • · A new, sleeker body design
  • · OLED screen
  • · Scratch proof and shatter proof screen
  • · Wireless sync with iTunes
  • · Extended battery life
  • · Flash support
  • · SIM-Less Phone – According to International Business Times, it is rumoured that the iPhone 5 will feature a new SIM-less design with 2 to 3 internal antennas for CDMA and GSM compatibility, which will make it a “worldphone”.
  • · Physical Keyboard
  • · Increased Ram (from 512MB to 1GB)
  • · New Multi-tasking Look
  • · HD Audio
  • · Built In GPS
