Minn. House passes bill to end “revenge porn”

We all have heard about it: a scorned former Partner posting video or pictures of their “ex” for purposes of humiliation, embarrassment or even extortion. On the one hand, the lesson learned is to not participate. On the other, however, is potential life-long worry or humiliation about the consequences of digital images taken in private with a trusted partner or perhaps even without one’s knowledge. Technology has continued to change our society in ways the common-law did not anticipate. As as result, states are taking action by passing legislation to prevent the practice of humiliating a former partner in this way. It looks like Minnesota will be the next to step up and say such behavior will no longer be tolerated. See the press release here.
