15 Aug. 2009 – My Premier Post

Well, it’s happened.  I’ve become a blogger.  It’s bound to have happened sooner or later, as I’m fairly opinionated, but I might not have been so public with it had it not been for my good friend Dottie.  Dottie is a very talented writer friend of mine who demonstrates such grace, wit and unbridled intelligence as to render her a very good influence on me.  Every time I read Dottie’s posts on her blog, Dottie Explains It All, I think ‘I wish I had something to say’.  I finally admitted to myself that not only do I have something to say, I have a great deal to say.  I’m a flaming liberal and often inflict my bleeding heart on my Facebook ‘chums’, but that seldom wins friends.  I’m one of those people who posts goals on my bathroom mirror and often makes a project of myself to improve aspect of my life I’m less than happy with, but I don’t think anyone cares about my anemic love life, or my struggle to adhere to regular exercise schedule.  Many of my passions, I realized, often have to do with beauty.  From the perfect vodka martini, to the exquisite thrust of a well-appointed Falcon 900DX as it takes off from Hewanorra in St. Lucia to the furnishings of one of my design heros, Jean-Michel Frank I find beauty in manifest Style. So here I am, blog at hand and something to say.  Where to begin?

Perhaps I’ll start by discussing some things that have been going on in my life of late.  I think it’s timely to note that this blog wouldn’t have happened two weeks ago.  Up until then, I was hobbled with an ancient PC with so many issues I could scarcely answer an e-mail, let alone write a Blog Entry without having to re-boot my rig.  I have acquired a new computer.  A very stylish 15″ MacBook Pro.  I love (almost) everything about this new beauty.  The precise engineering of its matte aluminum case is so sleek and sexy and the minimalist aesthetic of its clean lines are absolutely eye-gasmic.  Watch out world, I’ve got high octane computing power at my fingertips now.  The only thing I’d change is the razor-sharp edge that my wrists rest against while I’m typing.  I do hope no one gets the wrong idea when the notice my bandaged wrists.  (And I also hope the blood doesn’t stain my computer’s beautiful metallic sheen).

For the past couple weeks, I’ve been previewing homes for my step-mother.  She’s got it into her mind that she’d like a home in Park City, Utah to add to the collection of homes she has around the world.  This notion came upon her rather suddenly, right after her good friend, Mrs. X, acquired a home in the Colony. The Colony is definitely a stylish place. Expensive to be sure, but stylish. In my journey visiting many a luxury home throughout Park City’s finest neighborhoods, I’ve crossed paths with a number of Real Estate Agents. A few so superior they deserve recognition. Among them Jonelle Simons, Tom Peek, Michael Lapay and Tom Savage. By contrast, I had the distinctly unpleasant experience of interacting with the very snooty, pretentious and inattentive Clare Jackson. Where the aforementioned agents exhibited friendly professionalism, and an artful presentation of their properties, Clare Jackson could scarcely be bothered to turn on the lights as we interrupted her day to view the multi-million dollar homes she represented. She has no class and no style.

Ok, so not a lot about beauty, perhaps, in this first blog entry. But to summarize, Apple’s MacBook Pro has style as do four out of five Park City real Estate Agents representing some of that resort town’s most spectacular homes. I may have to refine my blog style as we go along. But for now…

Tastefully Yours,

A Guy With Style.
