Echigo Tsumari Art Field -- Matsunoyma Course Stop 3

Day 2: 2018-09-13 (Fri) AM-- Matsunoyma Course

Stop 3: Chiharu Shiota "House Memory"

This was also one of my favorite stops of the morning course. Personally, it was a beautiful house and if I were rich, I would have bought land in Tokyo and had this house rebuilt there to live in. But here it is an empty forsaken house. The artist's threads forming the art, reminds my of the weaving culture of this area famous for kimono production. It also looks like spider webs that have taken over a disused house, that once was a home. It also makes me think of the relationship of house, household, and housewife -- and what it means to lose those things.

In front of the house was a mini-site, the "Gardening Project"
