Gentle Slumber

Let the windows smile again To the Morning light, And the door stand open wide When the moon is bright.
-Bliss Carman, The Homestead
I love the subtle hues of early morning light and Painting many different scenes that I imagine under that soft glow. In this I have always been inspired and fascinated by Monet's light studies and I have painted many subjects in this light palette that I sometimes call a "white canvas".
In this painting, again I am showing an early morning scene. It could be sometime in those secret minutes when you already woke up but just fell asleep again for a few precious moments! Probably in the Spring or early summer when days are long and sunrise comes early.
It may also have to do with spending half my life in St. Petersburg, Russia, where it's so far north that spring is the time of "White Nights" and it barely gets dark at all!
This painting is on auction on my Daily Paintworks site ro can be purchased as a "buy it now" and is still available at the time of writing this blog.
