Ruby Holler
by Sharon Creech

At the Boxton Creek Home for Children, two "trouble twins" are misbehaving (as usual). Their names are Dallas and Florida. They have been at the Home since they were infants. Every time they get adopted, they aren't up to par with the "trouble grown-ups" and have to be sent back to the Home.

When they are 13 years old, they are adopted by Tiller and Sairy, but they don't trust them because they always get sent back. While they try to run away, they get tangled and lost, so they make an excuse about sleeping outside.

Along the way, they learn about the dangers and the silliness of going on separate trips, and how under-packed they turned out to be.

This book is great for children of all ages as many of the characters are charming and sweet. The message that is portrayed, though, shows that breaking stuff isn't as bad as it looks (They even break a few windows).
Although there was a lot of conflict, there was almost no violence in the book.
