Police are investigating a pit bull attack on the subway in Lower Manhattan after a dog latched onto a 22-year- old woman’s shoe.

The frightening moment was captured on video.

Riders on the 4 train desperately try to get the dog to let go of the woman’s foot.

“She attacked him first!” the dog’s owner yells as he tries to hold back the brown pooch on a leash.

“Just get the dog off of her!” another straphanger yells.

After a few seconds, the dog is finally yanked off the woman. But straphangers continued to yell at the dog’s handler for letting the dog get out of control.

The MTA doesn’t know where and when the incident happened but has flagged the video for the NYPD.

“Our rules require non-service animals to be kept inside containers and not disturbing other passengers,” said MTA spokesman Shams Tarek.

“What’s happening in this video is disturbing and a clear violation of our rules.”

Facebook commentators were appalled by the incident.

“I CANT STAND these entitled idiots who think it is OK to bring their loose dogs on the trains,” wrote Michelle Cadore. “They need to be fined. The risk of being bitten is one thing and then there are some folks who are actually allergic to dogs.”
