Ramping Up

While I (the Painting part of our little organization) await funding to get a graphics machine, I am taking this opportunity to explore doing less with more.  Though I can’t do the kinds of huge, detailed digital paintings I might normally do, I can work with analog materials like pen, ink and brush.  I can also work on my use of light on smaller works, as well as my composition.   Since we so often see art in a small format first, for example as a book cover on Amazon, it’s important to have a certain amount of “thumbnail appeal.”  That is, a painting generally should look as good from twenty feet away as it does from three.  Small works are easy on the CPU and good for practicing this kind of thing.  Here are two recent ones.
