Using this video Editor quite a bit, in this article I will explain how to use the video editing software. Being a cheap alternative to other video editors, it has more than enough features to support any video project. Most of the features can be used to do the simply tasks easy while the advance features will take some time to learn. This video editor is reliable for basic editing and capable of much more. Hopefully I can explain most of what you need to know in this article.

This video editor is only available on the computer system, Windows. The editing software is available for free while you can buy the pro version for a mere $20 bucks. Getting the pro version you get many more uses out of it. For example, you will get technical support, a masking Tool, chroma key functionality, sub-pixel resolution, advanced settings, hardware acceleration, visible audio waveform and much more. All extra pro features are convenient, even for beginners.

System requirements for installing VSDC Video Editor are

This video editor can support 4K quality videos and lower. Keep in mind that if you’re using high quality videos that you will need more room on your computer to hold all the videos and the exported finished videos. Along with adding sound or image, you can add the information to the Timeline area via the images on your objects tool bar. The tool bar should also have shapes, text, animations, charts, duplications, sprites and more objects you can add to your video.

The timeline window for your project is where you will build your video. On it there is white lines and a red line. The red line can be used to start editing at a particular point of time while the white line shows the overall duration of your project and separates the different objects in your timeline. Above the timeline there is zoom tools and time tools to see different parts of your project more easily. Use the red line at the end of a video and then you can clip on an another video perfectly.

Other then the timeline window of the project there is a properties window, resources window, a project explorer and an object explorer. Each file in the project will have a properties window that can be used for further edits to a file. The resources window will give you details of the files selected in the project. Project explorer shows the scenes in the project if you organise your project that way. Then object explorer will show files in each scenes you create, if you have done it that way.

Now lets talks out cutting and trimming. Right click on a video and click on the option Cutting & Splitting. A new window should pop up. I usually add two markers in the video I want to cut and click apply settings. This will break a video into two or three sections and is put in the end of the timeline area. Then delete other parts of the cut video not used. That is one way you can do it. You can also use Cut region/Restore region or Start selection/End selection. You will have to drag your correct cut video part into the right place again. Using the red line in the timeline will help with that.

Built in this video editor it has a variety of special effects, transitions and filters to be used on your videos. You can use adjustments to completely changes the colours in the videos. Filters and quick styles to quickly change the look of a video. Transitions and transparency effects. A few Special FX effects. Then Transforms to create even more effects. You can customize these effects to your liking and can be used in combination at the same time. You can edit the audio of sounds to with many different sound effects as well.

When your video is finally finished or you just want to test  out a video on a file, click the Export project tab. The editor supports many different Input and Output formats to create videos with. I recommend exporting a project on the desired device that will be at the top left hand corner. Then clicking on Edit profile to customize your export settings. There you can change the resolution, frame rate and quality in many different ways. Even customized the quality of the sound in the overall video. Some reviews of this software may say it is old-fashioned and has an unorthodox interface but, I like it. Putting time into this video editor, I feel I know how to use it completely. I would not class this software as pro tools, but it is pretty close to it. You will definitely need to be patient when editing your video project/s. If I can learn it you can too.
