 How to Clean Trimming Scissors 

Trimming scissors and shears will get black and gunky quick when working with dank resinous herb. Certain indica dominant strains especially are notorious for their gooey resin that sticks everywhere. That’s why you should always have extra scissors clean and ready to use.

Rubbing Alcohol

 Hanging Your Harvest 

Line for hanging

Set up lines for hanging. No matter how tight you get them, there’s always going to be some sag when you put on heavy branches. This is why you should not use a slippery line likes fishing line or metal wire. Rather, use braided cord or tight twine for that grip factor so that what’s hanging won’t slide all into the center. Herb Drying Racks

Screens racks can large amount of herb in a small area, plus air is able to flow all around the buds. Of course drying weed on screens will alter the shape of the buds i.e. make them flat, but placing buds on screens won’t cause too much alteration if they have already been hung for a few days beforehand.

 Storage and Curing 

After 6-10 days of hanging, buds are then moved into bags or container to cure. It takes about 4 weeks to cure buds in an easily burped container or bag before moving buds into final storage. It is important that the buds are able to gas off (release their chlorophyll gas), so don’t pack buds in too tight.

Answer: 65-75°F (18-24°C)

Paper Bags

Paper bags can be free or cheap to get and work decent in the beginning stages of plant processing for fresh dried buds that could a little more dryness. Place freshly dried buds in a paper bag for a day or two to gradually get them to a comfortable humidity level (buds at 55–65% RH) Paper bags are a short-term storage option to gradually continue the drying process.

Grocery Bags

Better than zip freezer baggies. Grocery bags are more airtight, and can keep buds at the same relative humidity level pretty good for at least a week. Double or triple them up for best results. Tie a single hitch as demonstrated above. Grocery bags are an early curing option that’s easy to open up, shuffle and let buds gas out evenly. Not for long term storage.

Garbage Bags

Whether they’re filled with just leaf trimming or full on buds, garbage bags are very helpful during harvest. Double up normal garbage bags or use heavy duty contractor clean-up bags for best results. Buds should be moved out of garbage bags and put into other final storage containers after a month of curing.

Mason Jars

When your buds are about halfway cured  (2/4 weeks) it may be a good choice to move them into more airtight storage. Don’t pack the buds in tight just yet. You”ll still want to burp(open) these jars regularly until the buds are completely cured. Once buds are cured, you can then vacuum seal the glass jars with a kitchen sealer and this jar sealer here.

Vacuum Sealer and Bags

Before vacuum sealing jars was the most popular long term storage choice, growers stored their stash in vacuum seal bags. You can buy a continuous roll to cut and make the bags as long as you want. It takes a little skill to learn how to vacuum seal buds tight without crushing them. These bags do preserve weed well for a long time, although not as long as jars do. If you make the seal wrong the herb will get old quick! For best results in long term storage, keep loaded bags in a dark, dry (50% RH) location.
