HOOKS FOR WRITING AN ESSAY ABOUT BATMAN

Tags: hook topic batman
Have you ever read a sentence that was so fascinating, so thought-provoking, that you actually wanted to continue reading no matter what? To begin a story with a great hook is the best way to begin any literary passage. Hooks can make your audience want to discover more or know what's going to happen next. So please check this out for some additional essay help, 24/7.

The first clause for any introduction is to draw the readers’ attention into your plot. Usually, this is called a “hook”, as it is intended to grab the reader’s attention with some fascinating facts and thoughts, just like a fisherman who'd catch his fish on a hook with the help of a lure. Another factor you have to consider is who will want to read your work. Ideally you have to figure this out before deciding which kind of lure you wish to utilize.

After writing an interesting induction for the introductory paragraph, you have to present the Topic and then carry the reader step by step towards the major point, which is, yes, the thesis.

1) A Definition:   Despite dictionary definitions generally being quite good to read, solid even, sometimes people could think they're quite dull as well. So try to write them using other words so they can sound more interesting to your audience.

Example: ″You Are Only As Good As Your Word″.

2) A Quote:   When you utilize a quotation, make sure that it somehow corresponds to the topic or the thesis. Do not use citations or clichés that are very common for essays, or put a unique spin on a wide-spread phrase.

Example: Batman once said, ″Criminals are a superstitious, cowardly lot. So my disguise must be able to strike terror into their hearts. I must be a creature of the night, black, terrible... Batman″.

3) An Amusing Fact:   This Hook is intended to impress the readers with facts that are probably not so well-known to them. With the help of this hook, you will make the audience want to learn more about your work. But do not forget to make a reference on the source of information.

Example: ″Before fighting against the Joker he fought the man he wasn't meant to be″.

4) A Personal Experience That Relates To The Topic:   If you have some experience that demonstrates why you are interested in this particular topic, then the reader will probably be interested, too.

Example: "When I was a kid I was a big fan of the Batman Animated Adventure. Even though I wasn't too sure how authentic it was, mainly due to its neo-retro design, in the same breath I liked the idea of a man and his ward doing their best for the world around them".

5) Use a Question that Will be Responded by Your Thesis, or Will Grab the Attention of the Reader and Carry Them Towards it:   Some questions can be a good hook, but make sure the answer is not too obvious or too vague.

Example: "Have you ever thought about the reasons why Batman wore his underwear on the outside of his pants?".

6) Similes:   Similes can make your paper sound more vivid as they involve a creative comparison of your subject with something similar.

Example: ″Fighting crime is like the plague that mows the population down″.
