Concept of Nation-states arouse in 1648 with the treaty of Westphalia. Each nation could act independently within its physical boundaries. This was a possible solution to global conflicts of illegal occupation of territories and power politics.Nationalism was the outcome.Free to live and accommodate its citizen without foreign intervention was most critical to the concept of nation-states.

But it didn’t serve the purpose, 1914 was the year when First World War broke out, and world saw the use of force by the world powers. They aligned to form power blocks to attain global supremacy.

First World War ended with the formation of League of Nations.Theory behind the formation of League of Nations was to control the abuse of power. But discontent arouse which resulted in World War 2.The intensity was severe and more brute use of force than in World War 1.

This war ended with formation of United Nations in 1945.UN believed in mutual respect of nations. Freedom and respect of nation’s integrity was the dominating agenda. “Peaceful coexistence” was underlying responsibility of nations. No aggressive and hegemonic designs against any country,regionally and globally.

Nation States were allowed much more control over their territories. But the power politics continued to dominate in the form of bipolar world, with two power blocks USSR and USA.It continued till the demise of USSR as Russia in 1989.

Since then it has been  turmoil faced by nation-states. Many nations are forced to retreat and are forcibly broken into parts. Bosnia is one example. Break up of Sudan is another.

Leaders are being devoid of taking control of their respective countries.Slogans of nationalism and rights are intentionally fumed to weaken a nation,and to bring people and government against each other.Result is anarchy which can be observed specially in Middle East. Proxies and non-state elements are radicalized in the name of religion or otherwise to achieve targets. Terrorism is one consequence of these proxy wars fumed and flamed by global powers.

Nobody knows the exact outcome of these dangerous designs of world powers but nations are humanity are suffering badly.

Growing racism in developed countries is another consequence, and how many more to come, who knows?
