Why The ShapeShift Modular Holster Is A Good Range Holster

For many, time spent at the range is a form of meditation. Plinking is zen.

Part of that process, however, is equipment, including a range Holster.

The Alien Gear Shapeshift Modular Holster System provides a cohesive system of carry styles that can be customized to preference for everyday carry and range training.

The modular system has a few benefits for folks hitting the range.

It's A Range Holster That Can Be Reconfigured Into Multiple Carry Styles

While training with a range holster, there will never be a one-size-fits-all option.

People have different needs, preferences and uses for their EDC or home defense handgun, and subsequently their range drills may differ slightly based on situational alterations to equipment and other factors.

Some prefer to practice with their standard open or concealed carry set up, honing in on their draw stroke with the inside-the-waistband or outside-the-waistband gear they use daily.

Then there are the tactical folks who may like a comfortable drop leg system, and many don a battle belt or plate carrier with PALS webbing, therefore needing a MOLLE holster.

Still others may want to train with a backup handgun, for example, in an ankle holster, should they be knocked prone.

Active retention devices may be a preference, but perhaps one would like to try out a thumb release in a safe environment before going in on a level two retention holster.

Fortunately all of these are options with the ShapeShift Modular Holster System.

It includes separately designed carry styles for strong side IWB, appendix IWB, paddle OWB, belt slide OWB, drop leg, MOLLE and ankle.

There's even an option to carry on a backpack strap — though that may not be the first choice for a range holster.

With the exception of the IWB options, many have an optional thumb release.

There are eight carry styles to choose from, each able to be transitioned between with the same injection-molded polymer shell.

Though, more will be added to the system in time.

There's a pretty interesting shoulder holster in the works.

However, there are more perks to the system as range equipment than just conveniently switching carry styles.

Carrying Spare Magazines While At The Range And Other Perks

The ShapeShift Modular Holster System has a few perks to improve efficiency at the range.

Particularly, you can carry spare magazines with the ShapeShift Drop Leg Holster in tandem with the handgun shell, and the ShapeShift MOLLE Holster can allow for spare magazines to be carried on PALS webbing.

Note that the drop leg option allows for two magazines, one on either side of the polymer shell.

However, the entire drop leg holster can just be used for spare mag carriers, allowing up to four to be carried.

If one is inclined, they could carry a second drop thigh holster and bump the number of magazines on hand to eight, theoretically speaking, not accounting for Cloak Mag Carriers on the waistline.

The point here is that there are options.

The system also has adjustable cant and ride height, depending on the holster. This allows the carrier the freedom to really tune in the system to customize it to their specific body type and preferences.

The entire system is built around the idea of having a holster that matches individual lifestyles, allowing seamless transition between different carry styles while adding personalized elements to each.

Translating that to time on the range means one can easily, affordably try and train with new carry styles in a comfortable environment.

Test Out New Ways To Carry That Might Pique Your Interest

Sure, while at the range you might be focused on improving that draw stroke or tightening your shot group, but it's also a valuable time to get a feel for trying out and drawing with new carry styles.

It's an affordable luxury with the ShapeShift Modular Holster System.

Once one full holster is purchased, expansion packs for all other styles are offered at reduced prices, offering the necessary components for other carry styles without the waste of purchasing completely new holsters for each carry style.

That cuts wasted materials, lowers labor costs and passes convenience to the gun owner, allowing us to sell the holsters for a lower price, further removing cost barriers to open and concealed carry.

What's more, each item has a 30-day test drive, meaning you can buy a new carry style to try out at the range, and if it doesn't suit your needs it can be sent back within 30 days for a full refund of the initial product cost.
