Christmas ephemera doesn’t get more ephemeral than this…The Year Around Christmas Present, 1970
I know nothing about this other than the scant description on the YouTube clip. I really don’t even know how or when I came across it. The mystery is what makes it magic.
The Year Around Christmas Present, 1970 is a 15 Minute record full of groovy 60’s and early 70’s sounds. It kind of reminds me of the funky Music you’d hear on Sesame Street and Electric Company back in the day.
The video describes it as such:
“An obscure record put out during the Christmas season in 1970. Full of groovy 60’s music. DeTrom Publishing Co., 1970 Tendec, Inc. Words and music by Sam Applebaum. Also sung by Mary Nealy. Arranged and produced by Les Tucker Recording. 21 W. Pearson St., Chicago, IL”
A thorough 4 minutes of Google searching turned up nothing….and sometimes that’s exactly as it should be.
