Man Of Steel - Review or Rant

Man of Steel - Coming to cinemas in 27 July 2013
Hello fellow earthing,
Just came back from watching Man of Steel, the new superman remake. It is absolutely exhilarating and crazily serious. It presents Henry Cavill's Kal el arriving on our beautiful planet to seek refuge. Kal el seems a very biblical and a Christ-like figure, when he arrives on earth as a baby. When he is sent away from his home planet, his mother Lara (( Ayelet Zurer ) fears that he will be will be a outcast, a freak and feared but his noble father Jor El ( Russel Crowe, go Australians ) believes that he will be looked on as a symbol of hope and will be treated like a god.

The touch of Christopher Nolan is very obvious and the visual effects of Zack Snyder can be easily seen. The strongly edited first 80 or so minutes of the movies are as good as Snyder gets. The digital effects are numerous, but for once Snyder has offset them with natural light and outside locations. Krypton is fully explored and is seen to be quite exotic yet still very dangerous. The ruling hierarchy is apparently responsible for draining the core of Krypton, which is reason for it nearing its death and destruction. General Zod ( Michael Shannon ) rages a military coup against the rulers of Krypton and tries to in some way, save Krypton. Although he wants to save them, he is also trying to control the bloodlines of the Kryptonians and aiming for a dictatorship.

Kal El is boarded upon his ship as Jor El's "citadel" is being attacked by General Zod to stop them from leaving the planet. Before Kal El leaves , the whole Codex ( genetic tree of all Kryptonians ) is uploaded in to Kal El to save all of Kryptonians.

On Earth, Clark wanders from Kansas to different places looking for his history and his destiny. He finally find a ship buried in ice for centuries where he also meets Lois Lane ( Amy Adams ), who finally brings some happiness and smiles to the movie. Throughout the whole movie, the smiles are very evidently missed that most of the old movies of Superman contained. Superman when he finally appears is forced to don the suit as General Zod decides to hold earth hostage till Kal El is given up to him.

The last hour of the movie basically contains the generation of rubble after rubble as Superman races to save the human race and protect humanity. Near the end of the movie, Superman finally kills General Zod, which does steer his character away from the comics a bit, but why he does it is what makes the most impact on the audience. General Zod is held by Superman and he uses his Heat Vision to target a family of humans. The emotional impact of this is great as Superman is forced to kill the last remaining member of his species. Screams of his grief as he breaks the neck of the General portray the kind of emotion he feels.

Although I do feel that Clark Kent's story could have been more fleshed out and we could have had a little less of his childhood but i do understand that it was necessary. The Visual Effects scream out Snyder and seem a little bit too much to some people, however, i think that it is not possible to realistically portray a superhero of his caliber and the fight between needed to be that destructive due to it being two Kryptonians fighting. I do think the special effects would most likely be reined back the next movie due to the fact that he will most likely be fighting Lex Luthor which will not result him in fighting Lex physically.

Anyway, the movie has a beautiful story and the acting of Russel Crowe and Henry Cavill create a beautifully emotional story. I would most certainly recommend it to anyone who wants to see it.

If I was give it a rank out of 10 then it would most likely be around 7 and a 1/2.
I hope who watch it will enjoy it.

Until Next Time, Goodbye
