Mitchell Robinson is one of the more gifted young players in this year’s NCAA basketball freshman class however, the 7-footer may not play a collegiate minute. Originally committed to Western Kentucky, Robinson left the program before even suiting up for them and has since considered transferring to another school, visiting LSU, New Orleans, and Kansas.

However, there is the additional option of skipping next season entirely and waiting out the 2018 NBA Draft and this could be the direction Robinson is leaning towards according to Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports:

Former Western Kentucky signee Mitchell Robinson is considering sitting out next season in an effort to prepare for the 2018 NBA Draft, multiple sources told FanRag Sports.

A McDonald’s All-American, the 7-footer initially committed to Texas A&M out of high school before decommitting from the Aggies’ program in the spring of 2016.

If Mitchell Robinson decides to surpass playing and winds up sitting out the entirety of the upcoming collegiate campaign, his draft stock could take a hit. Robinson is currently expected to be a top-10 pick but that could fluctuate over the next year leading up to the 2018 NBA Draft.

Whichever route Robinson ultimately decides to take, look for the Louisiana native to be selected towards the latter part of the lottery in next year’s draft.
