Mender Of Broken Hearts
On February 10, 2014, my husband and I sat down to watch an episode of It's Supernatural by Sid Roth. Watching this show on Monday nights have been a tradition in my home since my husband and I married. There have been episodes that I have loved and others that left me with a lot of questions. However, this one episode on how to Heal a Broken heart spoke directly to my husband and I.
I emphasize the importance of forgiveness and repentance as it relates to having a relationship with the heavenly Father. I felt that I have gotten that part right, but what about my heart? My heart was still hurting. It was still hurting from past wounds. Though I had forgiven the person it felt like the pain was still there.
This episode helped answer the question of why. Why did I forgive, but I was still hurting? I was hurting because I never asked Yahshua (Jesus) to heal my Broken Heart. It is true. Asking the Lord to heal my broken heart was the missing part. Therefore, I found myself not believing that I had ever forgiven the person that hurt me.
Many of us have gone through terrible and tragic situations in our lives. Some of us think that we have forgiven and moved on, but our behaviors tell us that we haven't. For example, if you were raised without a Father you might have a hard time trusting the Lord. Our first impressions of the Heavenly Father is through our relationship with our natural, earthly father. If your relationship was filled with mistrust, abandonment, or abuse it is likely that you have carried those burdens into the relationship with our Heavenly Father. I should know. I know the feeling of not fully trusting in God because I have had a hard time trusting Him. It is scary to trust God when you have never trusted your earthly father.
Ministering from a broken heart
Having a broken heart can affect you negatively as you minister. Because you might have a harder time trusting in God, your level of belief may not be conducive to miracles that He might want to do through you. It takes faith, belief, and trust to activate the power and the authority that has been given to us by the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8). It is time for us to minister from a place of wholeness instead of brokenness. The Father desires to heal us in every area of our lives. He sent His son to do just that. The prophet Isaiah proclaimed the ministry of Yahshua (Jesus) in Isaiah 61:1. Then, our Savior confirmed His identity and ministry in Luke 4:18
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,Notice that He was sent to heal the brokenhearted. I want to encourage you to let the Lord minister to you and heal your broken heart so that you can feel better, have the freedom to minister in wholeness, and so that you can experience the joy of the Lord.
