Who needs Cable and Satellite TV anyways....

With the economy as bad as it supposedly is these days, people are in desperate need of finding ways to cut-back spending.  Working in the communications industry it is quite a surprise to find that one of the first things axed are subscribers Cable and Satellite expenses. People aren't wanting to spend extra money for the advanced or premium programming and the electronics these industries offer/provide/bleed you dry over... Although, yet to have felt that crunch of the dipping Dow, personally I only view a handful of channels and am not utilizing the 6.8 billion (kidding) channels... options my provider offers. The minority of my monthly TV service bill is for the broadband service which I use much... MUCH more than our DVR. Why is that important... well if you are like me and reading this blog looking for answers, most of us utilize and depend on the internet and broadband services now more than ever. So why not find a way to get TV programming online and eliminate the need for the extra's- a pricey DVR, Digital box, or those monthly video services?
So... What do we need?
A hunting we shall go.

The first thing you MUST do is to integrate your internet into your living room.  If you do not want to watch your programming on a laptop or smartphone...  (unless you are on the go..go...go) There are many options for connecting a laptop or your puter' tower to your HD Boob-Tube.  For simple instructions on how to conquer this amazing feat go... here.
Once you are up and running the net on your Tele... let the fun commence.  Many of you are aware of Netflix which is wonderful, it has great functionality and allows you to instantly search and in most cases will find and can now even stream instantly what it is you are looking for. The only down side... it costs MONEY. (defeats our purpose)  For those that are more frugal Hulu is another alternative. Hulu doesn't offer near the selection that Netflix does but is very strong in it's own right. Also, is rumored if not already confirmed... to be adding a monthly subscription fee.  Boooo........!
These alternatives are great but if you are a tight-wad and a sports nut ... what do you do? (Hooters...? That costs money too.) Well there are a several options.  The first nugget I'll throw out there is the easiest, most straight forward way to enjoy almost all of your live sports (they cover all major sports, NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, soccer, auto racing, golf, You name it!) streaming to your tv... is through Firstrow Sports/TV.
