Just when people thought TV musicals are to be left in the hands of Bollywood, here comes US network Fox's "Glee", aptly named as the show centers on the high school glee club.
The group is made up of thirteen members, each with his own personal quirk - there's the theater junkie Rachel Berry; diva-wanna-be Mercedes Jones; reluctantly proud gay Kurt Hummel; bad boy next door Noah Puckerman; his best friend but exact opposite Finn Hudson; head Cheerio Quinn Fabray; adorable handicap Artie Abrams; goth princess Tina Cohen-Chang and a handful more make up the entire cast. William Schuester heads the pack with Cheerios coach Sue Sylvester at his heels ready to ruin the club with any chance she gets.
"Glee" has just about covered a majority of musical genres, recently giving tributes to pop icons such as Lady Gaga and Britney Spears. Each episode of "Glee" packs five to six songs, all covered with an all-original Glee sound.
In the Philippines, "Glee" has already attracted quite a fanbase, adding to the thousands of "Gleeks" (a term coined for fans of the show) worldwide. In fact, special screenings were held for the premiers of the Back 9 episodes (the remaining episodes for Season 1) and Season 2, which started last Sept. 22 (Philippine time).
Filipino Gleeks can watch their favorite show just hours after its US airing on ETC at 4 p.m.
