Bill

Bill Gee, my only “known” sibling is in hospital with an aneurysm of the upper brainstem.

My sister-in-law Bonnie Gee is keeping me informed.

The reason for this post is to ask my readers of faith to pray for my Brother.

Bill (left), our Dad(center), yours truly(right) near Kinzua, Oregon.   We were visiting grandparents.   Later, after we lived in Alaska, we moved to Kinzua (late 1959's, early 1960's).

Some of you may be surprised at my own expression of faith.

The truth is I have a strong belief in God.  It’s just that my belief in God does not correspond with anyone else I’ve ever met.  I'm a Solarian.

I’ve led the sort of life that has blessed me with contact with other persons who are religious and hold an incredible range of religious beliefs.

In addition to Christians, I’ve known an Aleut Aboriginal American who clung to what he called “the old ways.”  I’ve known people who followed Judaism, Zoroastrian, a Hindu, Animists, Shintoists, followers of Buddha or Confucius who saw those philosophies as religion.  I’ve  known people following faiths of  Satanism, and also Atheists, who clung to their faith with great fanaticism.

And I’ve known people of many Christian sects: Latter Day Saints, Catholic, Lutheran, Episcopalian, Salvation Army, Baptist, Methodist, Christian Science.

Let me tell you of one of my most profound religious experiences:

1965 I had this friend, Homer, who was gay, though I didn’t find that out until 1971. I also had this friend, Bonnie (not the above-mentioned Bonnie) who was of recent African origin.  When I say recent I mean within the previous 300 years! It’s quite possible we’re all of much earlier African origin.

Homer and I were visiting Bonnie.  Homer, who was deeply religious, commented to Bonnie and I “that we were all children of God.”

My reply? “Logic would dictate that if we are all children of God, we must all be brothers and sisters.”

Save for now, I only prayed when I was in Vietnam. Most of the time I prayed there I was hugging the ground!  And I did pray one other time, about a half a year later.  Don’t ask!!!!

Now I'm praying for my brother Bill.

If you’re so inclined, I beg of you, pray for Brother Bill.

NAMASTE
