The US decision to withdraw from the UN Human Rights Council (HRO) can not call into question the existence of this body. This was stated by First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Vladimir Jabarov in an interview with RT.
According to him, this position of Washington provokes "only regret."
"All the structures where Americans can not completely dominate, become disagreeable to them, it's their right if the US believes that they have nothing to do there," Jabarov said, stressing that other countries will continue to make decisions within the organization.
Jabarov noted that the possible participation of Russia, which had nominated itself for election to the UN Human Rights Council for 2021-2023, could make a significant contribution to the work of this body and become a "diplomatic victory" for the country.
Earlier, the US announced withdrawal from the UN Human Rights Council, prompting this decision to criticize itself from several countries and international organizations.
