Regional Leaders Gather for Roundtable Discussion on Infrastructure

COLUMBUS, Ohio—On Monday, May 14, Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) and Congressman Steve Stivers (OH-15) hosted a roundtable discussion at the Rickenbacker Air Cargo Terminal for a discussion about investing in central Ohio’s infrastructure, in honor of National Infrastructure Week.

Roundtable partners included Joanna Pinkerton, President/CEO, Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA), Joe Nardone, President and CEO, Columbus Regional Airport Authority, William Murdock, Executive Director, Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC), and Don DePerro, President and CEO, Columbus Chamber of Commerce.

“The ability to move people is critical to central Ohio’s economic development efforts,” said Pinkerton. “In fact, for every $1 invested in public transportation, studies show that there is a $4 return on economic development benefits. The continued investment in public transportation infrastructure is not only necessary to the growth and prosperity of our region but the livelihood of central Ohio residents.”

Roundtable participants included business leaders, policymakers, community stakeholders and public officials. The conversation focused on the importance of infrastructure and the projects, technologies, and policies necessary to ensure central Ohio is competitive, prosperous, and safe.

The goal of National Infrastructure Week is to bring together businesses, workers, elected leaders, and residents to highlight the state of our nation’s infrastructure – roads, bridges, rail, ports, airports, water and sewer systems, the energy grid, and more.
