Supreme Court reduces TamilNadu’s share of Cauvery Water

The Supreme Court  judgement for the Cauvery issue has arrived and it shocked the farmers and other people who are expecting the judgement eagerly. People  are in anger against the judgement.

Political parties in Tamil Nadu on Friday expressed shock over the judgement on the Cauvery water dispute which reduced the state’s allocated share by 14.75tmcft (thousand million cubic feet), calculating the need to supply drinking water to Bengaluru city (4.75tmcft). AIADMK Rajya Sabha member A Navanatheekrishnan informed the reporters that the problem will be fixed soon. MK stalin who is the working president of DMK wanted to meet the authorities to discuss about the issue and get the solution considering the issues that will be faced by the state. It is expected that soon a discussion will be commenced and solution could be bought.

Kamal Haasan says Cauvery judgement disappointing

The main opposition party in TN, the DMK, didn’t mince words on how disappointed it is.

“We are shocked. Reduction of share is unjust to the state. The AIADMK government failed to present its case properly in the Supreme Court, whereas Karnataka engaged the same legal luminaries both in the tribunal and in the Supreme Court,” DMK senior leader and former PWD minister S Duraimurugan.

CPM state secretary G Ramakrishnan expressed concerns over the delta region, the rice bowl of the state.

“Agriculture and farmer’s welfare gets affected extensively by this order. The verdict should not be final,” he said.

Karnataka welcomes SC verdict on Cauvery

Minutes after the Supreme Court verdict over sharing of the Cauvery’s waters, G Madegowda, the former MP and leader of Raitha Hitarakshana Committee, which led the Cauvery agitation, expressed his happiness.
