Do You Know The Difference Between Diet Coke And Coke Zero?

We have all grown up on this and we have also let this grow on us. Coca Cola has been our best friend while we were adulting, while we were not “allowed” to legally indulge in the minor vice of getting drunk.

Over the years, Coca Cola grew up with us, and we were introduced to Coca Cola’s cousins who became the best friends of the ones who were addicted to the fizzy drink and yet were immensely diet conscious. Thus followed the branches of Coca Cola, like Diet Coke and Coke Zero Sugar, which gave us all the more reason to chill for we were certain that we could keep sipping without the anxieties of obesity.

While we went on to chill with either Diet Coke or Coke Zero Sugar, many of us did not bother to delve a little deeper into the difference between the two, because, hey, as long as we are not adding those extra kilos, anything works. Plus the names of these two brands come with the assurance that there is no need to fight that urge because the Coke itself is “diet”.

The Chemical Ingredient

While Diet Coke was Coca Cola’s first sugar free drink, launched in 1983, Coke Zero came into being in 2006, and the latest variety of the no calorie drink isCoke Zero Sugar, was born in 2016. Apart from the difference in how the two brothers are dressed, that is, the canning of these two drinks, only a single chemical separates Coke Zero from Diet Coke. Diet coke comes with citric acid and Coke Zero has sodium nitrate.

The Variation In Taste

Coke lovers will fathom the difference in taste between these varieties of drink. For the ones who still have not, Diet Coke is not as strong as the classic old Coca Cola. It has a lighter taste, with a different mingle of flavors. However, Coke Zero tastes absolutely like the original Coca Cola. So, while you help yourself to that cool black can of Coke Zero, you still get to enjoy the strong taste of your old favourite Coca Cola. It just comes with a twist because it comes with no sugar, so that you can maintain that shape of yours.

The Caffeine Content Per Can

Although Coke Zero apparently seems healthier, there is not too much difference

There is yet another difference between the two brothers, and that is, the caffeine content. Coke Zero has lesser amount of caffeine, about 34mg. however, the elder brother, that is, Diet Coke is endowed with slightly more caffeine, about 46 mg in a can.

While there has been a debate about which of the brothers is better for health, there is actually no such thing. Then why the difference? That is because not all of us love dark chocolates, do we? The two varieties of Coke are just to appeal to the different preferences of taste.
