32nd Berlin Marathon 2005

Today at 9 a.m. the 32nd Berlin Marathon started on Straße des 17. Juni. The reporter took every pain to deliver his best coverage of that great and popular sports event in which more than 40,000 Runners participated. So instead of sleeping into the afternoon (it’s Sunday, even God feels sleepy and He wasn’t even out on Evening Six) the reporter made it all the way onto his balcony, expecting the first runners to arrive.

At kilometre 31 the field of top runners has already stretched out and the later winner, Kenya’s Philip Manyim, has taken the lead, gaining some hundred meters on his pursuers.

The almost uncontested winner of the female competiton, Japan’s Mizuki Noguchi, with her group of male escorts of pace makers and by-runners.

Other runners passed by in small groups till an hour later the large field reached the reporter’s point who even had made it down to the street then, hoping for some good photos. Runners kept coming for several hours according to each one’s slower speed, and even while writing this still more are coming with still more than ten kilometres to go.
