Your Guide To Dressing Stylish At An Indian Wedding - Do’s & Don’ts

You guys asked me about my tips on Wedding guest attire and I'm here to provide! Read on to see how I effortlessly wear and style ethnic wear.

Do Know Your Cut!

Every body is different, and no one garment will look the same on two people. I think it is very important to know just want works for you. From blouse cuts to suit lengths - understand what accentuates your body best and stick with it!

Don’t Skip The Jewellery!

Anyone who knows me knows just how much I adore accessorising. I believe that it is the easiest way to take your outfit from good to glam. But when it comes to wedding attire, accessorising is just mandatory! No matter how amazing your outfit is, your look will fall dull without some bling.

Do Experiment

I’m not sure why people are afraid to go beyond the norm with ethnic fashion. You have more options than a saree or Anarkali! Stand out by switching up the basic cut for a stronger silhouette or go indo western by pairing your traditional wear with a completely modern piece. I often raid my mom’s closet and reinvent her clothes.

Don’t Wear Black

Yes I know, black is an extremely flattering colour and an easy piece to style. But when wearing desi, please don't be afraid to wear colour! One of my most favourite things I see during Indian festivities is the array of unique hues adorned by everyone. I’d recommend staying away from the basic colours or trends of the season and looking for tonnes which will really complement your skin, personality or style.

Do Have Fun!

This is the most important! Wedding attire doesn't need to hold you back from dancing to some good old Bollywood hits. No matter how dressy I need to be - comfort is always of utmost important! Ditch that dupatta and slip into some comfortable juttis when you're ready to hit the dance floor.
