Digital Tape Measure

Let me get straight to the point: I have worked in construction for fifteen years, and I have never found a product that has made my life easier quite like this Digital Tape Measure has. My work requires precision; you’ve probably heard the phrase “measure five times, cut only once”. Nothing sums up what I do every day better.

If you make a mistake reading your measurements while you’re building a house, you’re going to find very quickly that you may have set your project back by hours or worse. I cannot understate the need to get things right the first time.

Well, this Tape Measure allows me to do that. The large digital display allows me to see what my measurement is exactly regardless of the light level. It even lets me calculate a midpoint right there on the display! I can switch the unit of measurement from imperial to metric whenever I need to just by pushing a button, and I can even measure around corners just by setting a new starting point. I cannot understate how useful this has been in my day to day practice. The usefulness of this tape measure really doesn’t know any bounds.

Let me give you an example. Before I got this Digital Tape Measure, I was beyond paranoid when it came to making my measurements at work. Every time I made a cut, there was always that tiny bit of fear nagging in the back of my mind that perhaps I’d misread my measuring tape and would have to start over. I’m not going to lie, that’s exactly what would happen from time to time. As much as I love what I do, I wouldn’t say that I even remotely enjoyed that aspect of my day. Frankly, measuring the same plank of wood five times only to realize later on that you were a couple of millimeters off can really frustrate even the most patient person out there.

Then my wife bought me this digital tape measure. Honestly, I was skeptical at first, but I think you can tell that those doubts are long gone now. I took it with me to work the next day and was astonished by how much less wood had been wasted by the end of the day. When I make a cut now, I can rest assured that the final product is always going to be the exact length that I need. Just imagine not wasting wood anymore! It has not only saved me a lot of personal frustration, but it has saved my company money too. I’m happier at work; my wife is more thrilled that I’m no longer grumpy coming home, and my boss is happier with the bottom line.

The durability of this measuring tape is another thing that I feel it really needs to be commended for. I have dropped mine from a second story window by accident, and it was completely fine by the time I managed to retrieve it. The polycarbonate holds up well. I also like the fact that it only requires a single clock battery in order to run. You can buy them at the dollar store. The power doesn’t last quite as long as I’d like, but it’s just so cheap to run that it doesn’t bother me all that much.

The only real complaint that I have is that there isn’t any grip or suction on the bottom to allow one to measure up or down vertical surfaces. Everything else on this works so well though that this is really only a minor complaint.

Look, it’s simple. This tape measure eliminates the risk of making a mistake, can save your measurements for later, and does all the conversions and calculations for you. The fact of the matter is that no other tool has simplified my job and eliminated quite as much aggravation and waste like this digital tape measure has. I honestly believe that any serious carpenter, be they a hobbyist or a professional, could be well served just by switching out their manual tape measure with this one. My point being, I like this product, and I believe that you will too. I highly recommend it.
