We are back from Paris Design Week, fully inspired from the whirlwind week in January when the "City of Lights" is infused with design. Pulling from all corners of the world, artists and designers come together from the fashion, interior design and the art world to show the latest, most innovative. We took in Maison Objet, fabric show Deco-Off, museum visits and even a fashion show. What we loved the most this year, we're highlighting in the Best of Paris 2018-- showing juxtapositions of dark and moody with lots of color, natural textures. Take a look...
Valentino's Spring/Summer 2018 Couture Collection
1. FASHION-- Valentino's Spring Couture Collection
was a stand out even amongst the barrage of runways shows during the week, and they showed voluminous colorful beautiful designs in contrast to neutrals. Valentino's Couture show by Italian Pierpalo Piccioli showed pretty colors Kelly green, lavender, yellow, purple and mint and a bevy of ethereal neutrals as well.

2. TEXTILES-- Dedar Milano's fabric collection
on the Rue Bonaparte, this small atelier is jam-packed with the latest offerings of Dedar Milano and Hermes. As usual both Dedar and Hermes showcase some of the most stylish textiles and wall coverings. 4. WICKER from Atelier Vime-- With origins that trace back to the 18th century in this small town in Provence, France, this wicker is soaked, creating a flexible material that these talented wicker workers transform into spectacular designs for the home. We noted their columns in the Ancien Moderne pop-up shop in the St. Germaine, and now we cannot get enough of their work. check them out, Atelier Vime

5. CERAMICS-- Costa Nova's Riviera Collection caught our attention with its colorful, stylish designs. The sea-glass colored dinner plate has an iridescent quality to it. The Portuguese brand creates stoneware collections for the table and home using the finest natural resources. This Riviera collection channels a tropical, stylish, colorful yet relaxed lifestyle-- designed by Christian Tortu, who found inspiration from the shapes, colors and landscapes of the famous French and Italian riviera.

7. JEWELRY--Toma Clark Haines' TCH Collection
Known in interior design circles as the Antiques Diva, Ms. Haines sleuths out antiques all over the world for clients and on private tours. Expanding her antiques empire to jewelry design, she collaborated with French antique shop Galerie Vauclair to create a chock-filled pop-up shop showcasing her gems along with the shop's spectacular antiques (and some of the finest Majolica I have seen). The bespoke collection is a combination of semi-precious and precious jewelry including rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets. Haines also offered gorgeous one-of-a-kind Venetian vintage jewelry in the pop-up shop.

These cocktail rings are unique and certainly a statement piece-- I'm in love the with them all, and especially the far left (knuckle buster as Toma calls them!)
7. Chinoiserie Deco-inspired bespoke WALLPAPER, Chinon by English Company, Fromental donned the walls of the Galerie Vauclair pop-up shop. Fromental's design team created this moody and sultry design, inspired by French Deco in an over-sized design with both black and chocolate brown dyed-silk grounds and metallic gold pigments. The team created two different designs in the jewel-box shop that acted as a perfect backdrop for the jewelry collection.
8. FURNITURE-- the Loafer Chair
Created for a luxury hotel, the SAS Royal Hotel worked with Signe Bindslev Hendriksen and Peter Bundgaard Rützou of Space Copenhagen to design the Loafer Chair. It's oversized and luxurious, yet has a nice intimate feel. These chairs would look just at ease in a luxury hotel, club or private living room.
