Saturday was such a joyous day! I woke up early in anticipation of the Royal Wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. I have always loved Princess Diana and grew up idolizing her not only for her style, but for her incredible heart and spirit, the way she lived her life helping those who could not help themselves, and of course, for the lovely relationship she had with her beloved sons. I am the same age as Prince William, so I feel like I have watched William and Harry grow up . I love that he found a beautiful, confident, thoroughly modern American woman to be his princess bride. The union between them is incredibly symbolic and historic for many reasons, but above all, it seems genuine, deep, and real.
Did you see the way they lovingly looked at each other or the fact that they never stopped holding hands throughout their Wedding ceremony? Other heartwarming moments included the fact that Meghan’s bouquet included flowers hand-picked by Harry from his mother’s garden as well as the fact that there was an empty seat in the chapel next to William, meant to symbolize Diana’s presence. I have no doubt that Diana must be beaming with pride as she looks down on her beloved sons. And speaking of mother’s, how beautiful is Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, who beamed with love, pride, and hope throughout the ceremony?
I have no doubt that you have seen countless beautiful images from the Royal Wedding, so I wanted to share something different with you. I have been following artist, Amelia Noyes (@iamnoyes) on Instagram since around the holidays when Amy Astley, editor in chief of Architectural Digest posted a chic portrait she’d commissioned from Amelia. Amelia is an incredibly talented illustrator whose work is at once chic, charming, and modern. I love the way she captured the Royal Wedding in these stunning illustrations which are available for purchase on Amelia’s website.
