Fabulous Room 08.18.17

I have admired the work of designer, Mary Mcgee for quite a while now. She has a wonderful way of creating beautiful, glamorous environments that maintain a sense of effortless ease– just take a close look at the pieces in this space. Pink is one of my favorite colors. I think it often gets a bad rap for being overly girly or twee a la Elle Woods, but it can also be very sophisticated. This stunning living room is a testament to the power of pink. It is bold and feminine, yet sophisticated, especially when used the way Mary has employed it in this space with miles of pink silk on the draperies and a tufted pink sofa.

The room, with its glittering mirrored chest, gilded lamps, and Lucite cocktail really sings thanks to the pieces that bring a sense of texture and masculinity to the space– the Richard Serra painting, the black and white striped ottomans, the grasscloth frames of the easy Slipper Chairs, and the incredible, hand-painted pink fabrics on the slipper chairs and on the pillows from Mary’s textile collection, Mary McGee x Africa. As I always say, it is all about the mix!
