If you’re a business owner in a rural area, you’re a great candidate for Solar energy.

The USDA offers grant funding and loan financing to agricultural producers/rural small businesses for renewable energy systems.

Meaning on top of the 30% tax incentive already gifted to Solar Energy users from the government, there may be more cost reductions available.

Why does USDA Rural Development do this?

The program aims to increase the private sector supply of renewable energy to increase American energy independence. This is achieved through energy efficiency improvements like solar panel installation.

The following information comes directly from the USDA. If you think you are eligible for a USDA grant and are interested in solar panel installation, please request a quote and mention USDA in your message. Application paper work is a process, we appreciate your request at least 2 weeks before the deadline.

Application Deadline: Grant Applications – April 30, 2018

Who may apply?

• Agricultural producers with at least 50% of gross income coming from agricultural operations, and

• Small businesses in eligible rural areas.

NOTE: Agricultural producers and small businesses must have no outstanding delinquent federal taxes, debt, judgment or debarment.
What is an eligible area?

• Businesses must be in an area other than a city or town with a population of greater than 50,000 inhabitants and the urbanized area of that city or town. Check eligible business addresses.

• Agricultural producers may be in rural or non-rural areas.

What funding is available?

To be eligible for the USDA grant your solar panel system size should be at least 15 kW.

If approved, the grant will typically cover $1,000 per kW.

The grant is limited to 25% of the total cost.

Solar Energy System Grants:

• $2,500 minimum

• $500,000 maximum
