Spamalot – Sorry Monty Python

Spam, Spam, spam, spam… nobody expected the Spamish Inquisition, least of all me. When I started writing a blog, all those years ago, I expected, indeed welcomed, comments. Back in the day on WordPress it seemed nobody loved me (aw!) because I had no views let alone any comments. Then I found Glipho and found great friends and comments by the bucket load. But, Glipho died (aw!) and my original WordPress site was found to be wanting because it wasn’t part of a main website that people wanted to visit.

Now, my main blog is part of my main book site and it’s been promoted using SEO and social media. Result – Spam!

Okay, so I get people making good comments and bad comments, either is welcomed, but the mass of comments I get are spam, pure and simple. On one posting alone I’ve attracted not one or two spam comments, but thousands. So, what to do?

I’ve tried plugins to stop spam, but nothing seems to work. I will keep looking, but I honestly believe you cannot stop spam if you want honest to goodness comments as well. I’ll just have to swim through the mire of rubbish and glean the odd comment, give it a polish and put it on the pedestal it deserves.
