Microsoft’s Windows 10 anniversary is finally here, and it comes with a number of updates . Microsoft began testing these Updates back in December. Now Windows 10 users can experience the new features and improvement free of charge. Some of the notable updates include the following

Microsoft has introduced two security innovations for individual users: Windows Defender and Windows Hello for both websites and apps. Enterprise will receive Defender Advanced Threat Protection, which detects, investigates and responds to malicious attacks on networks; and Windows Information Protection, formerly known as enterprise data protection.

Microsoft has extended the Windows Hello biometrics authentication feature in the browser using FIDO. It has also enabled password-free access to apps, the likes of WIP, Dropbox WIP or ormation. The Anniversary Update provides smartphone syncing using Cortana apps on Android, iOS, and Windows 10 Mobile. With the update, Cortana will now appear above the lock screen so that it can easily be accessed without having to unlock the device. Laura Jones, a spokesperson for Microsoft, noted that Cortana would have the same features of a real-life personal assistant.

A major update is the Windows Ink feature, which allows users to perform a number of activities using a digital pen. Microsoft has been supporting inking in Windows for years, though this feature is currently dedicated for devices the likes of Surface Pro 4 and others 2-in-1s stylus. Key apps have Ink-specific features with Ink working with a person’s finger for doodling inking on screenshots, though works better with a dedicated stylus.

Microsoft Edge browser now includes more power-saving improvements, a variety of edge extensions the likes of AdBlock and Pinterest’s ‘Pin It’ and improved visual presentation of web pages in high contrast mode. The update will also support streaming of online completion forms.

Gamers have not been forgotten in this Anniversary Update. They will be in a position to stay connected to Xbox Live and enjoy more games across their devices. They will be in a position to use Cortana command Xbox one.

Finally, Windows 10 update will simplify PC deployment, meaning teachers can quickly set up the device without requiring dedicated IT support. Schools that have IT support can set shared devices in bulk, using Windows Imaging and Configuration Designer tool.

Microsoft has been freely offering Windows 10 to nearly everyone who purchased a PC in the past decade. This was a break from its tradition of charging hundreds of dollars for the upgrade. Unfortunately, the offer closed on Friday, meaning you now have to pay to install Windows 10 with its genuine key.
