CARD: Jolly Cookie Cutter Christmas and CYCI136 Sketch Challenge

This Jolly Cookie Cutter Christmas Card almost didn’t happen!  Hermine arrived early on Friday and resulted in my Friday errands taking longer than usual but I was able to get the essentials.  I was finally able to sit down late afternoon on Friday and into the evening to play in my craft room for a little Hurricane Craft Party.  Herman wasn’t going to interrupt my time in the craft room.

It’s Sunday and you know what that means… I’m over at the Can You Case It? Challenge Blog for the Weekly Challenge!   Come on over and check out this weeks challenge as well as the Design Team submissions.  The challenge starts today and ends on Friday, September 9th @ Noon PST.

Jolly Cookie Cutter Christmas Card

Sketch Challenge CYCI#136

I’m thankful we didn’t loose power in our neighborhood as Hurricane Hermine blew through North Carolina.  The generator was ready for just such an occasion but it sure is nice not having to crank up that beast.  I live just Southeast of Raleigh, North Carolina along the I95 Corridor and we definitely had 4 to 5 inches of rain.  The winds really hit in the evening but we don’t have any trees on our property so we didn’t need to worry about downed trees or branches.

As Hermine was blowing through the State of North Carolina, as mentioned, I enjoyed a little hurricane crafting.  My ideal Hurricane Party involves paper crafting, alcoholic beverage of choice – usually wine for me – and emergency lights.  Admittedly, I wasn’t overly productive but did manage to finish this jolly cute card.

The Jolly Cookie Cutter Christmas Card features the Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper along with the Cookie Cutter Christmas Stamp Set.  I also used the Christmas Greetings Thinlits.  This is a great Christmas Card that is very easy to assemble.

Tips, Tricks and Techniques from Sunny Girl Scraps:

  • Stamp Santa from the Cookie Cutter Christmas Stamp Set with Basic Black Archival Ink.  Using the Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker, color in the Santa Suit and Hat.  Stampin’ Up! is currently offering a Stampin’ Write Marker 2-pack!  Buy your Real Red & Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Markers today!
  • Wondering how I distressed the cardstock and Designer Series Paper?  Using paper snips, rub the sharp edge of the paper snips along the edge of the paper to create the distressed look.
