On Saturday, we enjoyed a day at the beach just before the start of the school year.  Caleb loves the ocean especially playing in the surf as the waves break on the beach.  I also love the beach although I would rather be scuba diving.  Someday soon I’ll enjoy going scuba diving again.  

The Swirly Bird Stamp Set with the coordinating Swirly Scribbles Thinlits remains one of my favorite bundles from the 2016-2017 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.  It is a versatile bundle with so many creative options waiting for your interpretation.  I really love the sailboat. From the Tic Tac Toe challenge, I opted to do the diagonal with a Sun, Blue & Water theme.  The card is fun and fresh bringing thoughts of enjoying a sunny day on the water.  

Tips, Tricks & Techniques from Sunny Girl Scraps:

• The Swirly Scribbles Thinlits offers a great die perfect for creating the feel of water.
• While there isn’t a die for the sailboat, it is easy to cut.  Stamp the base of the boat then stamp the sails and the flag on the mast.  Cut around the base, sails and flag.
• I don’t normally use retired products on cards I plan to post to my blog but this time I just HAD to use the Smoky Slate Baker’s Twine (although I was certain it was still current).  An easy substitute that would have looked great is also the Linen Thread.
• The Happy Birthday on the Real Red banner is stamped with Whisper White Craft Ink then heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Using the White Craft Ink with the White Embossing Powder really helps the white on dark pop!
