Is sleeping with closed doors safer?

“Waiting insistently in front of a tightly closed door is unfair to all of the open doors! Give a chance to the open doors!” ― Mehmet Murat Alden

Not really the case for everyone. Especially when they are sleeping. Some people like to sleep in with the doors Closed and others like to keep it open. A lot depends on the psychology of the personality. Not everyone is comfortable with the concept of open doors.

People will be mostly unconscious when they sleep and this can invite all sorts of danger if they keep their doors open. Others suffer from a condition known as Agoraphobia in which they are terrified of stepping outside and prefer to keep the doors closed all the time.

CHECKOUT INSTANCES TECHNOLOGY HAS HELPED MAKE SLEEP BETTER

NFPA says close

The National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) Educational Messages Advisory Committee (EMAC) recently modified its messaging around sleeping with a door closed.

It is on the side of the fence which promotes napping with a closed door.  The NFPA declared that “A closed door may slow the spread of smoke, heat and fire. Install Smoke Alarms in every sleeping room and outside each separate napping area. For the best protection, make sure all smoke alarms are interconnected.”

Sleeping with closed do to prevent hazards

While the standard consensus bats for closed doors there are people who prefer defying this convention and follow their comfort level. In an NBC5 documentary exploring this facet of life -new research shows that fires burn faster today as a result of the way newer homes are built and the contents in homes.

Closing a door can halt the spread of fire, but the primary message has been and continues to be to make sure you have working smoke alarms in your home, giving you early warning of a fire.

Intruder Alert!

Open doors, on the other hand, are also a good idea when you want to detect an intruder prowling around your house at night. Some people are extremely introverted and always have to have the door closed shut.

All lights must be black. People have gotten in trouble for disabling the smoke alarms because they have the annoying little flashing light at night. Some people can’t sleep if there’s light coming in the window, so most of the time some people even sleep in their closet.

Keep it natural

The only light some folks can tolerate is natural lunar or stellar light, so sleeping in the middle of the woods is no problem.

Whatever floats your boat one thing is for sure from the perspective of security it is always a good idea to sleep with the door closed, especially when you are in a house without a fire alarm.

Sleeping with the doors open is also a matter of personal choice – how comfortable one is with their doors open allowing everyone to see them napping. It also helps one be alert if an intruder breaks in.

Both approaches have their own special advantages and disadvantages. The interesting thing is how comfortable you are with the approach you have chosen. Are you an open case or a closed book?
