CA Rare Three Candidate Race in a Top-Two General Election

Thanks to Richard Winger of Ballot Access news for this post.

California has been using a Top-Two Primary Election system, except Presidential, since 2011.

But this November's General Election, there will be three candidates on the ballot for the 62nd State Assembly District.

There will be one Democrat, one Republican, and one Libertarian.

The June 7th Primary ballot only had one candidate, Incumbent Autumn Burke (D).

But there was two Write-In candidates who filed and each received 32 Write-In votes.

- Marco Antonio "Tony" Leal (R)
- Baron Bruno (LIB)

The Top-Two law says when there is a tie for second in the Primary, the the winner and the two tied candidates appears on the General Election ballot.
